Springfield police said a child sex crime happened in the same house as a daycare, but they do not believe there are additional victims at this point in the investigation.

Lt. Lou Turner said the alleged victim in the case is a young girl, but was not a daycare student.

“We have no reason to believe there’s been any other infractions other than what had happened,” he said.

William Young Jr., 36, is facing a gross sexual imposition charge after police say he had a girl younger than 12-years-old touch him inappropriately.

Young’s Child Care, a daycare center, operates out of the same house where the crime is alleged to have happened last Friday.

Turner said the daycare is state-licensed and can watch up to 12 children at times. He said at the time of the reported incident, there were four children in the house but also added that the daycare owner has been helpful and fully cooperative during the investigation.

“(The owner) has been great,” he said. “(The owner) has given us a list of names of the parents of the other kids that stay there.”

Turner said police have been in contact with all of the parents who had children at the daycare center.

Although police don’t believe there are additional victims in the case, Lt. Turner said anyone who has ever had a child at the daycare can call Detective Sandy Fent at 937-324-7315 to set up an interview if their child would like to talk with someone.

The Clark County Department of Job and Family Services processes daycare licenses, but the Ohio DJFS issues them.

The county DJFS said it’s unclear if the circumstances in this case will affect the daycare’s license.

A statement from the Ohio DJFS said if a crime occurs in the same location as a daycare, the department has to assess a number of factors.

“First, we have to investigate the circumstances around when the crime occurred, the type of offense and if children were at risk. That will determine our next steps,” said Ohio DJFS Director of Communications, Bret Crow.

A post on the daycare’s Facebook page on Sunday said the daycare would be closed until further notice, but on Tuesday there was another post that read, ‘We will be open 4/10/19 at 8:30. Thank you for your love, support and understanding. I truly mean that, thank you.’

This news organization reached out to the owner of the daycare, but they did not want to say anything on the record regarding the business and the investigation.

Clark County online jail records did not show Young to be an inmate on Tuesday afternoon. A judge previously set his bond at $10,000, and as a condition of his bond, he is not allowed to have any communication with the alleged victim in the case.
