Police find no bombs after searching 2 area middle schools targeted in social media threat

UPDATE: Police cleared two middle schools in the Mad River Local School District on Thursday night after a bomb threat was made via social media, Riverside Police Maj. Angela Jackson said.

Explosives-detecting dogs didn’t find anything at either Mad River Middle or Spinning Hills Middle schools, the major said, ending the police search about 11:45 p.m.

Both schools are to be open for classes Friday, she said.

As News Center 7 was first to report, police were searching the two schools at 10:30 p.m.

Detectives became aware of the threat about 7 p.m. and are working on trying to track down the Internet address of the sender, the major said.

The threat, which was shared with News Center 7, reads, “”Mad river local school I’m going to send bombs to 2 of the schools including Mad river middle school. and Spinning hills middle school at exactly 11:24 a.m. on September 20th. Be prepared.”
