The callers use fake caller IDs that display their department’s number and pretend to be their officers.
“We NEVER ask for payment through Bitcoin, gift cards, PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, or any payment app. We DO NOT collect fines for missed jury duty or court-related issues,” the department wrote on its Facebook page.
If people are still unsure, they should verify the number with a trusted source or visit them in person.
