A woman could be facing multiple felonies after police launched an investigation into suspected child abuse that left two kids “very seriously” injured, said Lt. Beau Collins with Springfield Police.

Amber Cave, 26, was arrested by Springfield police Tuesday and was being taken to the Clark County Jail, Collins said.

Police opened an investigation into the suspected abuse after someone who knew the children contacted officers on Saturday, Collins told News Center 7.

A 2-year-old and 3-year-old were taken to an area hospital to be treated for their injuries, Collins said.

The extent of the injuries to the toddlers and their current conditions were not immediately available.

Additional information on the case is expected to be available Wednesday morning.

Cave is being booked into jail on suspicion of five counts of endangering children, two counts of felonious assault and two counts of domestic violence, Collins said.

Cave is expected in court Wednesday morning, Collins said.
