John Porter was sworn in Monday night as the new Butler Twp. chief of police.
“I just want to thank everybody for coming out, and I look forward to the opportunity to serve the residents here in Butler Township. Thank you,” Porter told the township council and the audience.
Porter was deputy police chief for the Trotwood Police Department, following his promotion announced in April.
His 30-year career in law enforcement began in Madison Twp., which merged with Trotwood police in 1996.
