VERSAILLES — The committee and volunteers for Versailles Poultry Days have been preparing thousands of barbecued chickens ahead of this weekend’s festival.
Barbecued chickens have been cooking in hundreds of gallons of secret sauce since Friday morning.

The committee is prepared to serve over 29,000 chicken halves this weekend, adding on to the over 1 million dinners served since the inaugural festival in 1952.
The Darke County town was once known was the poultry capital of the world.
Poultry Days began Friday afternoon and will run through Sunday evening in Versailles.
