SANDUSKY — People celebrating Memorial Day at Cedar Point amusement park got a bit more of a thrill than expected when some of the rides stopped abruptly during an afternoon power outage, stranding some riders atop roller coasters.
UPDATE @ 4:17 p.m.
A spokesman for Cedar Point, Tony Clark, sent the following statement regarding the power outage and stranded riders.
“At approximately 1:45 p.m. Monday, Cedar Point experienced an interruption in its power supply to a section of the park. The outage was caused by a vehicle accident in which a car struck a power pole. All of the rides that were affected safely came to a stop and all guests were escorted off. Ohio Edison has restored power and rides are reopening.”

Cedar Point officials said power has been restored to the park.

Our CBS affiliate WTOL in Toledo reported some guests are stuck on rides.
