TOLEDO — An Ohio teacher was suspended after they allegedly forced two students to go outside in the cold without a coat.

The incidents occurred on Dec. 3 and 4, involving four-year-old Aria Weinrich and three-year-old Khyli Love, who share the same teacher at Beverly Elementary School in Toledo, according to CBS affiliate WTOL.

“Are you cold yet?” said Khyli’s grandmother, Keva Maddox. “Because this is what can be seen and heard on video by [the teacher] repeatedly asking my three-year-old granddaughter as she’s standing in the freezing cold. ‘Are you cold yet? You’re not coming back inside until you stop crying.’
A supervisor of the Early Childhood Program reached out to the children’s mothers, Keshara Love and Deanna Mccullough, telling them that their daughters were allegedly sent outside without a coat until they stopped crying.
A Toledo Public Schools spokesperson confirmed that the teacher, Kara Henck, has since been suspended without pay. She was initially suspended with payback on Dec. 6, WTVG reported.
In a statement sent to WTVG, TPS officials said the district reported the incident to Lucas County Children Services.
The statement also said the district is committed to the safety and well-being of all students and holds its staff to the highest professional standards.
