Cold front to bring accumulating snow to Miami Valley tonight as temperatures drop

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Auglaize, Champaign, Darke, Miami, Mercer, Logan, Shelby, and Wayne (IN) counties until 7 a.m. Wednesday.

A Freeze Warning goes into effect for the entire region Wednesday from 3 a.m. to 10 a.m. Cold temperatures at or below 32 degrees can lead to frost or a freeze that could kill or damage crops or plants.

A Freeze Watch will go into effect for the entire region Wednesday night into Thursday with temperatures again expected to drop below 32 degrees.

DETAILED FORECAST:

TONIGHT: Clouds thicken into the evening and becoming a bit breezy. A line of showers will enter the Miami Valley from the northwest and push southeast through the night while transitioning over to snow quickly. Snow showers may fall heavy at times reducing visibility at night.

Snow will struggle to stick at first, but eventually a light accumulation on grassy and elevated surfaces is expected, especially the further north and west you live.

Roads will be primarily wet to slushy overnight, especially north of Dayton. Temperatures will drop to around freezing by morning. Winds overnight will create wind chills in the lower 20s.

Snow Accumulation:

2-4″ Mercer and Auglaize counties

1-3″ north and west of Dayton

Up to 1″ South of Dayton

WEDNESDAY: A cold morning in the low 30s. Gusty winds up to 30mph. Snow showers will shift east before sunrise. Watch out for any leftover slick spots.

Clouds will break a bit by midday before increase once again. Highs in the middle 40s with some spotty rain showers redeveloping in the late afternoon/evening. Clouds decrease overnight. Temperatures drop below freezing. Protect any sensitive plants or crops.

THURSDAY: A bitter cold morning below freezing. More sunshine will return to the afternoon. Highs will get back to 50. Breezy at times.

FRIDAY: A cold morning around freezing. Sunshine through the day. Clouds increase at night. Highs around 60 degrees.

SATURDAY: Cloudy skies with rain likely for Saturday. Highs in the upper 50s.

SUNDAY: Partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies on Sunday. A mild day in the upper 50s to lower 60s.
