According to a Dayton police incident report, a homicide victim was found inside the apartment shortly after officers received the call.
The victim was identified as 51-year-old Michael Oliver, of Dayton, according to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office. Oliver died after suffering a stab wound to his neck and his death was ruled a homicide, according to a coroner’s office
“While the homicide detectives are still piecing together some of the details, the other residents in Wilkinson Plaza should know this was not a random act of violence, but a result of an altercation between two known associates,” said Dayton police Sgt. Michael Godsey.
Owen’s cause of death has not been ruled and is still under investigation, a coroner’s office spokesperson said.
Cunningham was taken into custody on a preliminary charge of murder about four hours after police received the initial call.
