CLEARCREEK TWP. — A Clearcreek Township police officer shot in the line of duty is back out in the community days after being discharged from a rehabilitation center.

Officer Eric Ney was out for the National Night Out event in Clearcreek Twp. Tuesday evening.

Warren County Prosecutor David P. Fornshell shared photos from the event, including a photo of himself and Ney.

Ney was released from the Rehabilitation Institute of Ohio July 30. He was there to undergo therapy and further assessment for his injuries sustained after being shot across his face while responding to a domestic violence incident on July 12.

As he was leaving the rehabilitation center Saturday, Ney said he was appreciative of all the people who showed up in support.

He echoed that appreciation in a social media post that Fornshell shared on Monday.

“I just want to thank everyone for the messages and prayers sent for my suffering. Clearcreek Township has been awesome and all others as well,” Ney said in part.
