Ohio could be the latest state to pass a “red flag” law aimed at keeping firearms out of the hands of people with mental illnesses.
In January, a state senator from Cleveland introduced a red flag bill and Gov. Mike DeWine has discussed supporting some version of a red flag law.
While opponents of red flag legislation say it strips away due process from people, those in favor argue that it protects people from themselves and others who are at-risk.
