Letter carrier threatened, punch thrown at her on mail route in Dayton

DAYTON — A letter carrier was harassed and threatened while delivering mail Monday afternoon, according to a Dayton police report.

Police were dispatched at 3:35 p.m. to the 2300 block of Rugby Road on a report of a disorderly subject.

The U.S. Postal employee told police that she was harassed by the mother of her ex-boyfriend’s child while driving in the area of West Hillcrest Avenue and Rustic Road, according to the report.

The mother drove up in a vehicle and parked next to the carrier’s mail truck. The postal carrier said, the mother then yelled profanities through her rolled down window and threatened to beat her up, according to the report.

She also claimed there was a newborn baby in the front seat of the vehicle, according to the report.

After driving off, the letter carrier said later the woman followed her mail truck, exited her vehicle and attempted to punch her, according to the report. The postal carrier said the punch did not reach her because she was rolling up her window.

The letter carrier said the woman fled after she told her she would use pepper spray, according to the report.
