Fire that consumes vacant house in Dayton likely arson, fire official says

DAYTON — UPDATE @ 8 p.m.:

A fire that broke out tonight at a vacant two-story house on Grimes Street is under investigation as an arson.

Dayton fire crews said fire was heavy when they were called shortly before 7 p.m. to the house at 33 Grimes St., at the corner with West Second Street.

Firefighters are letting the house burn to the ground for safety reasons and said they would remain on scene for several more hours.

FIRST REPORT

Heavy fire was reported coming from a two-story house on Grimes Street at the corner with West Second Street.

Dayton fire crews were called just before 7 p.m. to the house, which reportedly was engulfed.
