Man cutting grass in critical condition after car hits him, slams into Riverside house

RIVERSIDE — UPDATE @ 1 p.m.: 

A man who was cutting his grass is in critical condition after he was hit by a car on Old Troy Pike in Riverside Tuesday, according to police.

Officers and multiple medics were dispatched to the 2800 block of Old Troy Pike, north of Stanley Avenue, around 11:40 a.m. on reports of a person hit by a vehicle.

A man who was cutting grass on a riding lawn mower was hit by a car traveling on Old Troy Pike. The crash ejected him from the mower and dragged him a short distance, according to Riverside police. The car eventually came to a stop after crashing into the foundation of a house.

The man on the mower was transported to an area hospital and is in critical condition, police said.

The driver of the car, only identified as a woman, was also transported to an area hospital but her condition was not immediately available. A passenger in the car did not appear to have any injuries and was able to talk to investigators on the scene, police said.

Potential factors in the crash were not released and remain under investigation. Initial reports to police indicated the occupants of the car appeared to be overdosing when the crash happened, according to police scanner traffic.

Officers said possible impairment wouldn’t be determined until blood was drawn from the driver. However police confirmed Narcan was not used on anyone involved in the crash.

Three medics have left the scene of a reported pedestrian strike on Old Troy Pike in Riverside, according to our crew on the scene.

Initial reports indicate a person cutting grass was hit by the car before the car slammed into the house.

Police scanner traffic indicates two people in the car appeared to be overdosing when the crash happened.

Multiple medics have been requested after a report of a person hit by a vehicle on Old Troy Pike in Riverside late Tuesday morning.

The crash reported around 11:40 a.m. in the 2800 block of Old Troy Pike, north of Stanley Avenue.

Initial reports indicate a person mowing their yard was hit by a car that eventually crashed into the house.

Police scanner traffic indicates two people in the vehicle were believed to be overdosing when the crash happened.

The conditions of all three people in the crash were not available.
