Police: Man in custody after high-speed pursuit ends in Dayton

DAYTON — A 40-year-old man was arrested Tuesday afternoon on Valley Street near the North Keowee Street bridge, where a high-speed police chase ended after a fleeing pickup truck ran over tire deflation devices.

Aaron William Wood was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on suspicion of a parole violation; failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer; felonious assault and receiving stolen property, online jail records show.

The incident started around 3:10 p.m. with officers attempting to find a wanted man at United Dairy Farmers on East Siebenthaler Avenue, investigators said.

Police said Wood attempted to run over officers, which led police to initiate the pursuit. Speeds in the chase reached at least 80 mph, according to reports.

The pursuit ended after the truck ran over tire deflation devices on Valley Street. The driver, later identified as Wood, pulled over and was taken into custody around 4 p.m. in the 200 block of Valley Street.

No injuries were reported.
