State troopers and fire units blocked all westbound lanes until around noon, when tow crews were able to remove the truck from a wooded area.

The driver, Devin Norton, from Gaston, N.C., said he was not injured in the crash.

“Once I tried to slow down, my truck started swerving and I lost control,” Norton told News Center 7’s John Bedell.

“I’m just traumatized right now. I would never want this to happen again. It’s my second accident.”

Norton said this was his second trip through the Dayton area and he was on the way to pick up a trailer in Decatur, Ill.

“A couple of cars saw me, when I went over (the guardrail). They helped me out and asked if I was OK,” Norton said.

Norton said he is now waiting for further instructions from his employer following the crash.

“I was wearing my seat belt. Definitely. I would’ve went through the windshield (if I didn’t wear my seat belt),” Norton said.

“Only thing I can do now is thank God.”

State troopers said Norton will be cited for failure to control.
