Sibyl Brewster said she was “very surprised” to learn of the break-in near her home.
“We live in a very quiet neighborhood,” she said.
As reported on News Center 7 at 5:30, sheriff’s office records show at least three break-ins in the last week. They said multiple juveniles were walking down neighborhood streets, trying car doors to see which ones were unlocked.
“I’m so paranoid that I even lock my car when I get out of it and come in the house,” she said. “You know, I don’t ever leave it and walk out there.”
Brewster added she’s worried about more than just the belongings in her car.
“I’ve heard about people jumping in the car and taking off, which seems ridiculous but you never know,” she said.
The same group of thieves also went through cars in Tipp City and reportedly stole a vehicle. Deputies said they target places with easy access to Interstate 75.
“It’s just ridiculous,” Brewster said.
The sheriff’s office is asking residents to keep their cars locked, bring valuable items inside, and turn on exterior lighting at night to help try and keep thieves away.
