RICHMOND — A woman accused of embezzling more than $327,000 from a Richmond freight transportation company remained in the Wayne County Jail Monday.
Denise King, 55, faces a felony charge of theft, according to Wayne County court records.
The president of Logistics Revolution reported possible internal theft at the business on Jan. 16.
According to a probable cause affidavit, King was accused of using fraudulent checks made out to King Karriers to deposit money into an account she had opened using the businesses name.
Police learned King does not have any affiliation with the legitimate King Karriers business, which is a trucking company based out of Avon, Indiana, the affidavit said.
King then was accused of moving the money from the business account to four other accounts, including her own personal account, a vehicle loan, and two accounts in the names of her children, the affidavit read.
During a search warrant last week, police found two debit cards in King’s purse that were connected with the business account King is accused to have opened.
King has been in jail since Feb. 5.
