Riverside names interim city manager

The Riverside City Council has appointed the city’s fire chief as interim city manager.

Mark Carpenter replaces Interim City Manager James Percival, whose last day is Friday.

Interviews began in late May.

Percival passed the torch to his interim successor in jest.

“Good luck, brother,” Percival said across the dais to Carpenter.

Riverside’s former city manager, Bryan Chodkowski, resigned in January after nine years in the city. In April, he was hired as the manager of Enfield, Conn.

Riverside’s city manager position was briefly filled by Assistant City Manager Emily Christian, who departed recently to become assistant to the city manager in Miamisburg, before Percival, formerly of Xenia, was named interim city manager.
