XENIA — People are getting ready for another round of snow across the Miami Valley later this week.

News Center 7′s Haley Kosik spoke Monday with Greene County Engineer, Stephanie Goff, and she says crews have been out nonstop since Sunday morning.
“Greene County crews have been working 12-hour shifts since Sunday morning,” Goff told Kosik. “They will have no break as a winter storm is quickly approaching.”
They will continue treating the roads until the next blast of winter arrives Wednesday.
Goff also spoke about how crews are preparing for the weather and says Greene County prepares for any storm the same.
“We adjust on the fly depending on what it throws at us,” said Goff. “The storm constantly changes, storms go on so, we change what our salt rate is, what our beet rate is, what we’re doing. It’s just an ever-moving target, but that’s the nature of our job.”

Goff says the weather is unpredictable and it’s the nature of the job. She also asks drivers to let crews do their job.
“Give our crews room to work, that’s all crews,” she said. “Our crews, ODOT crews, city crews, township crews, give us room to work and let us do our job.”
Greene County has 2,500 tons of salt and 12,000 gallons of beet heat and Goff feels that’s enough for what mother nature will bring this week.
Kosik reports crews to adjust on the fly depending on what weather is thrown at them by adjusting the salt rate and the beet heat rate.
