Police: Pharmacy robbery suspect shows gun, gets away with prescription drugs in Vandalia

UPDATE @ 12:52 p.m.:

Police are looking for the suspect who reportedly robbed the Rite Aid in Vandalia Saturday around 11 a.m.

According to Vandalia Police Sgt. B.R. Walker, the male suspect got away with an undetermined amount of prescription drugs in a bag after he handed a pharmacist a note and showed a gun at his wasteband.

He walked out of the store and was then seen running, according to Walker.

The suspect reportedly entered the store about 40 minutes prior to the robbery, walked around and left. A clerk reported seeing the suspect get into a black sedan by a nearby apartment complex.

It’s not clear how he got away after the robbery, though.

The suspect is described as being in his early to mid-20s, wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and a green ball cap.

Police are at the scene of a robbery that took place at the Rite Aid in Vandalia.

According to initial reports, crews responded to the robbery at the pharmacy located at 10 W. National Rd. around 11:30 a.m.

Vandalia police on scene told us they do not have a suspect at this time, but the suspect did get away with pharmaceutical items.

According to scanner reports, the suspect handed a pharmacist a note that stated they had a weapon.
