DAYTON — The Greater Dayton RTA is gearing up to start providing free rides on the weekends all summer long.
Staring June 4 and running through Sept. 4, RTA will offer free rides on Saturdays and Sundays on both fixed-route and paratransit services.

RTA officials said with gas prices being at an all-time high, they wanted to encourage people to save money by using public transportation.
“We felt free rides on the weekends for the summer would be a great way to get folks familiar with using RTA and provide them with a reliable transportation option for all their weekend needs,” Bob Ruzinsky, RTA CEO, said.

Ruzinsky said RTA would be moving toward a service model that would provide the “same level of service seven days a week” to meet the needs of the community.
