Two people in a pickup truck have been taken to a hospital and a family had to be evacuated after the truck hit the gas line of a home at the dead end of Dengliner Road in Trotwood.
The people in the truck are believed to have passed out in the area of Free Pike and Denlinger after overdosing, a Trotwood firefighter said.
The runaway truck continued at least a half-mile along Denlinger, crossing the road several times, taking out at least one fence, and damaging front yards before hitting the gas line of the home in the 3000 block of Denlinger.
A family in that house was moved to the back of a fire truck so they could keep warm while a Vectren crew repaired the line to the home, the firefighter said.
No other evacuations were needed.
Police are blocking Denlinger Road until further notice.
