Crash involving childcare bus on I-75 sends 3 to area hospitals

DAYTON — UPDATE @ 8:55 a.m. 

Two children and one adult were transported to local hospitals as a precaution after a childcare bus was involved in a crash on Interstate 75 south in Dayton Thursday morning.

The crash was caused by a mechanical failure on the bus, according to investigators. The failure caused the bus to veer off the right side of the road, then went back onto the roadway across three lanes of traffic, before the bus crashed into the median wall.

After hitting the wall, an SUV also collided with the bus, police said.

The occupants of the bus, two children and one adult, were taken to area hospitals for observational purposes.

The driver of the SUV was not injured.

A crash involving a childcare bus has been reported on southbound I-75 at Stanley Avenue.

The crash was reported around 8 a.m. Two medics have been requested to the scene.

The crash involves a bus belonging to ABC Leap into Learning, according to our crews on scene.

Traffic is getting by in the far right shoulder. All southbound lanes are closed.
