New outdoor art sculptures will be added to downtown Troy next summer.

The Sculptures on the Square committee, led by Troy Main Street Inc., welcomes back Seward Johnson’s “Celebrating the Familiar,” works of art depicting lifelike people performing day-to-day activities.

The 21 sculptures will be introduced to the public at the Sculptures on the Square event on June 14, 2019, at Prouty Plaza. Many of these works will be displayed in businesses throughout the summer.

Along with the sculptures, the event also will include a series of public art displays and interactive workshops.

The event on the square is made possible by a grant from the Troy Foundation.

Two additional sculptures from Johnson’s “Beyond the Frame” series are sponsored by the Kettering Health Network. The latter series offers detailed vignettes that allow visitors to step into the painting and stroll amid life-scale bronze figures.
