DAYTON — It’s not even fall yet but the search for the perfect Christmas tree to the be the center of Dayton’s Grande Illumination has already started.
This year’s tree plans to be even grander than last as its decorated in gold for the event’s 50th anniversary and adorned with more than 50,000 lights.

Trees should meet the following guidelines:
- It has to be between 45 to 60 feet tall and 25 feet wide
- Colorado Green Spruce or Blue Spruce trees are preferred
- The tree must be located in the front or side yard of your property with clear access to the tree, free from power lines or transit cables
People in the Miami Valley who would like to nominate a tree can call Colleen Turner at the Downtown Dayton Partnership at (937) 224-1518, or email turner@downtowndayton.org.
The winning tree will be selected at the end of October.
This year’s Dayton Holiday Festival is planned for Nov. 25.
