Search continues for STOP inmate who walked away from work site

JEFFERSON TWP. — Authorities are still searching for a 37-year-old Montgomery County STOP inmate who reportedly walked away from a work detail at the Possum Creek MetroPark Monday morning.

The female inmate, identified by dispatch records as April Baltes, walked away from the site on Shank Road around 10:30 a.m., according to emergency scanner traffic.

Several deputies and officers searched a wooded area on Infirmary Road in West Carrollton where Baltes might have been seen.

A caller reported seeing a suspicious person run into a wooded area on Infirmary Road near Hemple Road around 2:30 p.m., according to emergency scanner traffic and dispatchers.

The search was called off around noon after a K-9 and drone were unable to locate Baltes.
