Secret Service agents, SWAT units involved in investigation in Clark County neighborhood

SPRINGFIELD — Secret Service agents are part of an ongoing investigation in a Springfield neighborhood Tuesday afternoon.

Several law enforcement officers, including members of Springfield police’s SWAT unit and agents wearing Secret Service gear, were observed by our crew at a house on West Liberty Street and South Wittenberg Avenue.

Additional details about the investigation were not immediately known. A call to the Cincinnati field office of the Secret Service seeking information has not been immediately returned.

Armored trucks were initially on the scene of the investigation but have since left.

It was not known if any arrests were made.

“At this stage, we are not in a position to comment on the nature of the involvement of the Secret Service in this matter. As with any potential investigation, any future actions would be disclosed in conjunction with the United States Department of Justice or local prosecutors,” Secret Service Chief of Communications Anthony Guglielmi said.

The Secret Service declined to answer any additional News Center 7 questions.
