UPDATE: Man who died in single-vehicle crash in Miami County has been identified

BETHEL TWP., Miami County — UPDATE @ 2:32 a.m.:

The victim has been identified as Mathew Martin, 37, of Tipp City. He was pronounced dead at the scene Wednesday around 12:30 p.m.

UPDATE @ 1:55 p.m.: 

A man was pronounced dead at the scene after a single-vehicle rollover crash in Bethel Twp., Miami County Tuesday afternoon, according to deputies.

Witnesses told the sheriff’s office the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed before the driver lost control. The vehicle crashed into a utility pole and several trees before coming to rest, officials said.

The identity of the man was not released, pending notification of family.

Deputies said the driver was not wearing a seat belt when the crash happened.

FIRST REPORT

Emergency crews have responded to reports of a serious single-vehicle crash reported on Ross Road in southern Miami County Wednesday afternoon.

The crash was reported on Ross Road west of state Route 202 around 12:30 p.m. Emergency scanner traffic indicates the vehicle overturned and crashed into a utility poll.

Initial reports indicate at least one person suffered serious injuries in the crash. Their condition was not immediately known.
