Houston man, 63, is motorcyclist killed in Shelby County rear-end collision

UPDATE @ 9:37 p.m.: A 63-year-old Houston (Loramie Twp.) resident, Norman Jolliff, is the motorcyclist killed in the Shelby County rear-end collision this afternoon on northbound state Route 66.

The driver of the car that hit Jolliff is Bobbie Rockwood, 41, also of Houston, according to the Shelby County Sheriff's Office.

UPDATE @ 8:15 p.m.: 

A motorcyclist was killed Tuesday afternoon in the 2700 block of northbound state Route 66 when a car rear-ended him as he was about to turn into the driveway of his home in Loramie Twp., Shelby County Sheriff's Sgt. Joel Howell said.

The motorcyclist, aboard a Harley-Davidson, was ejected in the collision and died at the scene, the sergeant said.

The driver of the Ford Fusion that hit the bike suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Wilson Memorial Hospital.

Howell said the sheriff's office would release the names and ages of the people involved later this evening, once the relatives of the deceased are notified.

Charges against the driver are pending the sheriff’s office investigation, Sgt. Howell said. We will update this developing report as we learn more.

UPDATE @ 5:55 p.m.: 

State Route 66 in Loramie Twp. remains closed because of the serious accident this afternoon involving a motorcycle and a car.

Shelby County Sheriff's deputies are on the scene of a serious vehicle accident in the 2700 block of state Route 66 in Loramie Twp. involving a motorcycle and a car.

We're hearing the accident occurred about 5 p.m.

A sheriff's dispatcher could not confirm any details about the accident, but did say the road was closed to traffic until further notice.
