8 people displaced after fire in Darke County

LIBERTY TWP. — Eight people have been displaced after a fire broke out in Darke County home Thursday morning.

Firefighters were dispatched around 6:22 a.m. on initial reports of a porch fire in the 2100 block of Byrket Road, the Darke County Sheriff’s Office told News Center 7.

Several fire departments provided mutual aid including New Madison Fire, Tri-Village Rescue, Lynn Fire, Hollansburg Fire, Greenville Township Fire, Greenville City Fire, Union City, Indiana Fire, Arcanum Fire, and Union City, Ohio Fire, according to the Liberty Twp. Fire Department.

The Red Cross was called to assist the eight people displaced by the fire.

The house has been deemed a total loss.
