As reported on News Center 7 at 5:30, Darcy Kate Williams is now resting mostly quietly at home with her big sisters and mom and dad.

“She came in like a lamb,” her dad, Brandon Williams said.

Her sisters were staying with their grandma and grandpa not far from home in Clark County as Allison and Brandon Williams were getting ready for a scheduled c-section.

“We were supposed to be at the hospital, like, 5:30 that morning,” Brandon said.

Just as they were getting ready to leave, there was a tornado warning for Clark County.

“And honestly, I didn’t take it too seriously because, like I said, Clark County is a big county. Then I turned on the WHIO app,” Brandon said. “Britley was talking about where the tornado was, and they showed it on the radar.”

Brandon said it was time to head to the basement after the National Weather Service confirmed a tornado right along Charleston Pike and Fletcher Chapel Road, which is their street.

After the storm, they got a call from Allison’s doctor, not about the c-section, but about Brandon’s grandpa’s house. The doctor lives next door and told them the storm ripped the roof off.

No one in Williams’ family was hurt, but storm damage and downed lines meant Brandon and Allison couldn’t get there to check on him.

Road closures made for a detour-filled drive to the hospital. The arrival was later than they had planned, but their little delivery turned out perfectly.

“We’re just very thankful that all of us are safe and that in the end, we got to add a sweet little baby to our family,” Allison said.

The family told News Center 7 that the baby girl has been nicknamed “Dot,” which is short for Dorothy— a Wizard of Oz reference for having a run-in with a tornado as she started her big adventure.

We will continue updating this story.
