HARRISON TWP. — The grandmother of a local teen killed in a shooting last week says her death has turned her world upside down.
Alice Washington said she woke up Friday to her son telling her that her granddaughter, whom she identified as 15-year-old Heaven Washington, was dead. She told News Center 7 that at that point, she couldn’t breathe.

The teen was shot during a “rolling shootout” at the intersection of Philadelphia Drive and Turner Road on Friday morning.
The loss is still hitting Alice, who said Heaven was her son’s oldest child and has six younger siblings.
“And they know they’re not going to see their sister no more. She practically raised these children,” Alice said. “They were very close.”
Alice spoke to News Center 7 Monday from her home in Mississippi. She said her son and his wife had life struggles and lost custody of their seven children. She has tried, so far unsuccessfully, to get custody and now she wants answers.
“I want answers to everything,” she said.
Montgomery County Sheriff Rob Streck wants to give the family answers about what happened to Heaven on Friday.
“We want closure for this family, for her friends. We want everybody to know what happened, we want them off the street,” Streck said.

Detectives spoke to the driver of the car Heaven was in on Friday and over the weekend, they developed information that showed the other vehicle involved was a Red Toyota Rav4 with two people inside, 29-year-old Tommy Moreland and 32-year-old Denisha Taylor.
Taylor turned herself into the sheriff’s office Monday afternoon.
As News Center 7 previously reported, a reward is being offered by Miami Valley Crime Stoppers for helping lead to the arrests and successful prosecution of both Taylor and Moreland.
Alice told News Center 7 that the entire mess is senseless, including her granddaughter’s death.
“She was a sweet child, that’s all I can tell you. She was a sweet child,” Alice said.
