Sheriff: Woman made 79 calls to dispatchers since November

WASHINGTON TWP., Montgomery County — A woman jailed on several charges of abusing 9-1-1 has called emergency dispatchers 79 times since early November, Montgomery County Sheriff Rob Streck said.

Rachel Weimer, 36, faces seven counts of abuse of 9-1-1 and other charges including; false alarm, phone threats/harassment, aggravated menacing and resisting, according to Kettering Municipal Court records.

Streck said of the 79 calls Weimer has made, the majority have come in the last few weeks.

“That’s since November, but the uptick has really been about the last week-and-a-half,” Streck said.

One of the incidents was recorded on video by Weimer’s fiancé, who says he believes deputies took things too far when she was arrested.

“We were just constantly getting harassed, threatened, intimidation,” said Nick Bond.

Streck said he’s reviewed the video and doesn’t see that his deputies did anything wrong.

"They're doing everything they can to talk, talk it out, try to reason, when that doesn't occur and an arrest has to be made — we do use force at some point, but I have not seen anything or read anything to where there was an amount of force used that was not necessary or unreasonable,” Streck said.

Weimer’s charges include specific instances since Dec. 25, when deputies said she called 9-1-1 for an issue with someone cutting off her Wi-Fi, court records show.

On New Year’s Eve, court records show Weimer is accused of calling 9-1-1 wanting to “press charges against her mother for posting an eviction notice on her door.”

Deputies responded to the Dec. 31 call and told Weimer there was not crime committed and deputies said “Weimer became irate started screaming, cursing at (the deputy) and demanding he leave,” court records show.  Weimer then reportedly threatened a different deputy.

Records show Weimer called 9-1-1 11 times on Dec. 31 and she was warned by a sheriff’s office supervisor to stop calling or criminal charges would be filed.

During a separate Dec. 31 9-1-1 call, Weimer is accused of threatening “to burn her whole building down unless an officer responded,” records read.

On Jan. 4, Weimer is accused of making multiple 9-1-1 calls for non-emergency situations.

“After refusing to meet with deputies multiple times, Weimer contacted (Washington Twp. Fire Department) for a medic assist reference a panic attack,” the statement of facts from the Jan. 4 incident read. “After she refused their services … I attempted to arrest her for misuse of 9-1-1, when she kicked (a deputy) in the left leg while resisting arrest.”

Monday Weimer was accused continuously calling for non-emergency situations, according to records.

Weimer has been in jail four separate times for misusing 9-1-1 since Christmas and remained in jail Tuesday afternoon on a $150,000 bond following her most recent arrest Monday afternoon. She’s pleaded not guilty to the charges, online records show.
