Sheriff’s office seeking witnesses to Jefferson Twp. crash that killed 2 children, 1 adult

JEFFERSON TWP. — The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help in an investigation of a crash that killed three people, including two children on New Year’s Day.

On Sunday, Jan.1, officers were dispatched to a two-vehicle head-on crash in the 5900 block of Germantown Pike (State Route 4) at approximately 7:02 p.m., according to the sheriff’s office.

An initial investigation showed that a 2014 Chevy Traverse was traveling south on Germantown Pike when it crossed over the center line and hit a 2000 Chevy Suburban head-on.

As a result of the crash, one adult and two children were killed.

Ta’Wayne Palmer, 49; Ta’Wayne Palmer, 13; and Octavious Palmer, 9, all of Dayton, were identified as the victims of the crash.

Investigators previously said they have probable cause that alcohol was a contributing factor of the crash and that the suspect has a history of OVI’s.

The sheriff’s office says it is continuing to work on the investigation and is looking to speak with anyone who saw the vehicles driving before the accident.
