DARKE COUNTY — The Darke County Sheriff’s office is warning of a phone call scam targeting residents.

The sheriff’s office announced in a Facebook post that they had received reports that residents were receiving calls that appeared to be from the Sheriff’s Office phone number.

The caller claims to be a sergeant or lieutenant from the Sheriff’s Office stating that they owe money and they need to pay the sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office stated in their post that they would never call asking for payment for anything.
If you receive a call like this, do not give any personal information to the scammers.
You do not need to call the sheriff’s office for a report unless you have provided personal information or given money to the scammers.
