MIAMI COUNTY — The Miami County Sheriff’s Office says that residents have received calls from a scammer identifying themselves as an employee of the sheriff’s office.

The caller claims that a court date was missed, and requests money to avoid further trouble, the sheriff’s office says.

According to the sheriff’s office, they will not call you and ask for payment or personal information.
