Bond set for man arrested after deadly shooting at Dayton apartment

DAYTON — UPDATE @ 8:55 p.m. (Jan. 14):

The bond for Kennar Jazzmin Woods, the suspect arrested following a deadly Germantown Street shooting, has been set at $10,000.

Woods’ pretrial hearing was scheduled for Jan. 22.

UPDATE @ 10:37 a.m.: The victim in a deadly Germantown Street shooting Friday morning has been identified as Brandon L. Cunningham, 35, according to the Montgomery County Coroner's Office.

An official cause of death has not been determined.

Kennar Jazzmin Woods, 34, was arrested on preliminary murder, tampering with evidence and having weapons while on disability charges, said Dayton police.

Homicide crews reportedly identified Woods as a person of interest and arrested him hours after the shooting.

A second victim, who was injured in the shooting, was taken to an area hospital and is in stable condition, said police.

The case is being presented to the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office for consideration of formal charges.

Woods is being held in the Montgomery County Jail.

Crews were dispatched to the 2300 block on reports of a shooting at 12:36 a.m. and found two unidentified males with gunshot wounds.

One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene, prompting the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office to respond.

The man who was transported to a local hospital is in stable condition, officials said.

Both victims are described as being in their 30s.

Police say there are currently no suspect leads and the incident remains under investigation.
