Man, 25, killed in Dayton shooting identified

DAYTON — The man killed in a shooting on West Grand Avenue has been identified as Devan Sanders, 25, of Dayton, according to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.

A 911 call obtained by this news station revealed the family found the victim dead outside of their house around 9 a.m.

According to the caller, Sanders was bleeding from their head when he was found in the 1600 block of West Grand Avenue in Dayton Tuesday morning.

News Center 7’s Mike Campbell spoke to the best friend of the Sanders who said that Sanders was an angel and he always wanted to be like him.

He said Sanders would take water to Flint, Michigan to help people out and that he always wanted to be like him.

Police are asking for anyone that heard gunshots in the area of West Grand Avenue early Tuesday morning to come forward with any information.

Police are working to determine a timetable for when the shooting occurred and any suspects that may be involved.
