Short on time this Ash Wednesday? Kettering church offering ‘Ashes to Go’

KETTERING — Today a church in Kettering will be offering a unique way for busy people to participate in Ash Wednesday.

“Ashes to Go” will be offered in the parking lot of David’s United Church of Christ at 170 West David Road in Kettering.

Ashes will be offered at three different times — 7:30-830 a.m., 12-1 p.m. and 5-6 p.m.

Brian Newcomb, senior pastor at Davids UCC said in a release that they will meet people in their cars in that parking lot and impose the ashes and a blessing, then give them a prayer card to use.

A regular Ash Wednesday service will also be held inside the church at 7 p.m.

This is the fifth year the church has offered this service.
