KETTERING — After getting inches of snow over the past week, firefighters are asking that people shovel around fire hydrants.

According to multiple posts by various fire departments around the Miami Valley, shoveling the snow out from around a fire hydrant can shave minutes off response time, and possibly save lives.

The Kettering Fire Department is asking for a three-foot clearance around the hydrants.
