Sidney fire department acquires new medic vehicle for the first time since 2007

SIDNEY — After fourteen years, the Sidney Department of Fire and Emergency Services has acquired a new 2020 Horton medic.

The medic is a 4-wheel drive Ford truck chassis with a liquid spring suspension, which helps to improve patient ride and vehicle stability, the release stated.

The Horton medic also has airbag systems built into both the cab and patient compartment for the safety of the crew and the patient in the event of an accident. Integrated child seats are inside the vehicle as well to allow for the safe transportation of children.

The last new medic unit the Sidney Fire Department received was in 2007.

The 2020 Horton medic is made of medic units that were refurbished over the last ten years, said the Sidney fore department.

“It is our hope that this new medic will serve the citizens of Sidney for many years to come,” they said.
