Sidney house fire caused by hot ash, firefighters say

SIDNEY — Firefighters battled a fire that broke out in a Sidney home over the weekend.

Around 4 a.m. Saturday, firefighters were dispatched to the 300 block of Windsor Parke Drive on a report of a structure fire, according to a spokesperson for the fire department.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a two-story home with fire showing in the rear of the residence.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire on the exterior of the home.

The occupants were at home at the time of the fire but were not injured.

The total loss to the property and contents is estimated at $50,000, the spokesperson said.

According to firefighters, the cause of the fire has been determined to be accidental, with hot ash from an outside campfire being the cause.
