Sinclair awarded $650K grant to meet aerospace industry needs

DAYTON — The National Science Foundation (NSF) has awarded a $650,000 grant to Sinclair Community College to meet the needs of the aerospace industry needs.

Thursday, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that NSF awarded the grant for Sinclair’s aviation maintenance training.

“We unleash more American innovation when we nurture Ohio talent,” Brown said. “This award will help Sinclair Community College students prepare for careers at good-paying, skilled jobs and continue Ohio’s leadership in innovation.”

The Supporting Early Career Researchers Act, which Brown has cosponsored, aims to create a pilot program at the NSF. The program will provide grants to skilled early-career researchers working at independent research institutions in higher education for up to two years.

NSF supports education and research in all non-medical fields of science and engineering, according to Brown’s team.
