Buried at Bear Creek Cemetery is a woman’s father who died seven months ago, and when they come to visit him there is still nothing to mark who he was.
Already having to deal with the loss of her father, Ashley Thomas is also having to deal with what she says is the cemetery not honoring her payment.
“Took the money and now it’s gone, so I’m out $800 right now,” Thomas said.
That check was supposed to go to placing a footer at her father’s grave to put his tombstone on top.
“It’s a slap in the face, that there’s nothing there to see,” Thomas said.

Thomas says she can’t get anyone in charge of the cemetery to answer for this.
“They’re all gone. So there’s been nobody there,” she said.
Her grandfather Paul Fryman visits the cemetery almost every day. He says they are not the only ones with this issue.
“There’s a lot of them here that ain’t got no footer and it’s already paid for,” Fryman said.
Despite the family saying there’s been no action on the cemetery’s part, they are holding out hope.
“We’re not the only ones suffering with money, and for you to take the money that is supposed to be their final resting place,” Thomas said.
News Center 7 tried knocking on the cemetery’s office and calling the cemetery but did not get any answers.
