Snow plows struck by drunk drivers twice; ODOT reminding motorists to move over

TOLEDO — The Ohio Department of Transportation reminds motorists to move over after two drunk drivers hit snow plows in a matter of days.

The ODOT Toledo District 2 shared on Facebook that snow plows had been hit by drunk drivers on two separate occasions.

Both drivers fled the scene, according to the post. No serious injuries were sustained in either crash.

“First of all, don’t drink and drive. Second of all, move over and stay away from plow trucks while they do their job to clear the roads for you,” the post read.

The post also stated that snow plows weigh “actual tons and they cannot stop on a dime.” Drivers should move over and slow down when approaching snow plows.

26 plows have been hit so far this winter, according to ODOT Press Secretary Matt Bruning.
