MIAMI VALLEY — The Miami Valley should expect more snow showers tomorrow morning, which may impact driving conditions.
The Ohio Department of Transportation showed News Center 7′s Haley Kosik how they’re preparing to treat the roads.

Before they can hit the road and begin treatment, inspections are conducted. This includes testing the plows and releasing the salt, which is more expensive this year— just like everything else.
“But we’re making due. We go with a brine mix,” said Tiffany Oliphant, ODOT District 7 Public Information Officer.
Brine is salt water that helps the salt work faster.
“We’re just getting another set of eyes on our equipment to make sure everything is up to code and good to go and safe,” said Greg Rines, Ohio Department of Transportation Highway Technician.
“We all want to go home. We all want our drivers to go home, we got families, everyone is trying to get to their destination,” Oliphant said.
After today’s inspections, the trucks are ready to treat 4,000 miles of state and US roads in District 7.
The only thing lacking is an extra 20 drivers to join the District 7 team.
ODOT also wants to remind people to be respectful of salt and plow truck drivers. Keep a safe distance, pass with caution and move over if possible.
