Kettering was one of the cities in Montgomery County that got the most snow with approximately 9 inches, according to the National Weather Service.

Street Supervisor Dan Phillips told News Center 7 that plow drivers focus on the main roads and the city is split up into 16 districts.

“So, when you get in the districts and all these colored streets are done, the districts go kind of quick. But again, we are having to plow all the corners because we haven’t had this much snow in a long time,” Phillips said.

Phillips said his crews have been working on the roads since early Sunday morning.

He plans to keep crews out until about Wednesday.

“We’ve got 24 trucks on the road, 12-hour shifts, 24 hours. 24/7 right now,” Phillips said.

He said there are a lot of snowplow drivers who aren’t as experienced with this level of snow, but they move with urgency.

“Get people in trucks that haven’t been applying so we’re not as fast as we usually are,” he said.

The city asks people to be patient. They expect the roads to be clear by 3 p.m. on Tuesday.
