MIAMI COUNTY — A man who police say shot and killed his father has issued a plea.

Daniel Davis Jr., 22, pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity Monday in Miami Common Pleas Court, according to court documents.
As previously reported by News Center 7, Davis Jr. and his father 54-year-old Daniel Davis Sr. were having an argument inside a detached garage on their property along West Monroe-Concord Road in Union Township when Davis Jr. shot his father.

Davis Jr. confessed to shooting and killing his father twice, according to a previous News Center 7 report, once during a 911 call after the shooting and another time during an interview with police.
Davis Jr. was indicted on Wednesday, Jan. 8 on one count of Aggravated Murder, three counts of Murder, and two counts of Felonious Assault, according to court documents obtained by News Center 7.
Davis Jr. is being held in Miami County Jail with a $3 million bond.
The court has ordered an evaluation of Davis’ present mental condition, court documents indicate.
His next scheduled court appearance for Jan. 23 has been vacated pending completion of the mental evaluation.
